Shannon Newcomb is the PACT 3 LPN in WOPC. Her dedication and commitment to her career and the health of our veterans are admirable. As an LPN, Shannon runs PACT 3 with kindness, respect, and precision, ensuring the Provider arrives on time every day. It is essential to note that she does not perform this task by rote. Always affable, Shannon welcomes each patient in the lobby and establishes an easy rapport as they make their way to the exam room. She utilizes her exceptional nursing assessment skills from the first encounter. This was most evident when she greeted a patient who was seated in a wheelchair with his jacket draped over his legs. To a casual observer, the patient appeared to be in no apparent distress, but Shannon noticed that he had arrived at the clinic without shoes. Being truly Veteran-centric, she was able to initiate an open dialogue and communicate her concerns while maintaining the patient's dignity. This level of respect is not only extended to veterans and their families but also to her colleagues.
She is always willing to offer assistance when needed, and for this, she is well-regarded by all departments in the clinic. Shannon has demonstrated that she is a trustworthy and compassionate healthcare provider who embodies VA core values.
