Recently Shannon O'Dell took care of a 30-year-old patient with sickle cell. Although the patient was transferred to CMC, Shannon promised the patient and her family that she would visit them. And she did! She traveled to Salisbury to visit the patient's significant other and to check on how the patient was recovering. Shannon took her personal time to meet the entire family, including the patient's five-year-old daughter. They were all surprised to see Shannon and were amazed that she kept her promise to check in on them.
Shannon exemplifies the CHS Core Values of Caring and Commitment. The patient's daughter thanked Shannon for caring for her mom. The family shared that the patient is at rehab, she is walking, neuro is intact and she hopes to return to work soon.
