With over 15 years of hospital (in-patient) experience, Shannon is by far the very best nurse I have ever had.
I have been a patient since I was 14 years old as Crohn’s Disease has caused me many hospitalizations. With over 15 years of hospital (in-patient) experience, Shannon is by far the very best nurse I have ever had. Not only is she honest and lends an ear but she goes far above the call of duty.
For example, the Dietary department completely missed serving lunch in our unit, and at 4:30 Shannon ran and spent her own money to buy me food (and a cake). I am unable to shower due to Covid restrictions, so she brought me a shower cap, wipes, and skin care. She does all of this while also caring for my roommate with intellectual and physical challenges.
Shannon exemplified patient-centered care. She shares my concerns and reminds me that everything is going to be ok. She is a genius in her craft and with every task she undertakes, you can just feel the love she has for being a nurse. Every nurse should be a Shannon and every nursing student should shadow her. I have never missed a nurse after discharge, but I am genuinely going to miss her. She should be the measure of the DAISY criteria for years to come.
