On behalf of my family, I would like to nominate Shannon O'Grady for a DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and compassion. My father was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident in November, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury. The neuro trauma team performed life-saving surgery, and the nurses in the SICU were absolutely extraordinary. However, it was once my father was transferred to 7 Central that Shannon truly made a lasting impact on both him and our family.

My father's injury made him irritable and, at times, difficult to comfort. Despite these challenges, Shannon was always incredibly patient, kind, and attentive to his needs. She went above and beyond to make him comfortable when we honestly didn't think it was possible. Through her calm demeanor and compassionate care, Shannon was able to connect with my dad in a way that allowed him to smile during moments when we thought he couldn't.

It was always a good day when Shannon was his nurse. Her presence was a beacon of hope in a difficult time, and her commitment to providing the best possible care did not go unnoticed. Shannon truly made a difference in our journey and exemplifies the highest standards of nursing excellence. I believe she is more than deserving of this award.
