There are so many times she has swooped in and provided excellent patient care in emergent situations and arrived at high-stress situations where we needed one of her skills, whether it be a difficult cath, IV insertion, or CVL repair.
I've known this nurse for over 10 years, and for 10 years, she has been a constant source of positivity and reliability. She helped me through numerous situations as a new grad and when I started to charge was also a source of wisdom. Whether it be her high-level skills or her expertise, it was always going to be a good night if she was there as a floating preceptor. There are so many times she has swooped in and provided excellent patient care in emergent situations and arrived at high-stress situations where we needed one of her skills, whether it be a difficult cath, IV insertion, or CVL repair. She has been a calming presence for countless families without ever truly being acknowledged. This DAISY nomination is definitely overdue.
Recently, she did what she always does with no hesitation. There was a new grad, a patient was declining, and she jumped in to help without even needing to be asked. Always graceful and kind without being condescending in any way. The new graduate who sent the celebration was so thankful, as was the patient's family, for providing the necessary interventions to prevent him from deteriorating further. You can't really describe the relief and sense of security you have when you have someone dependable like this is around, especially as a new nurse on the night shift. She was a nurse I looked up to and modeled my practice after, as I'm sure many other new nurses have as well. She has always been an incredible leader on the nightshift. She is simply said- the best!
