Everyone has a DAISY Hero, whether it's someone famous, a family member or a peer.For me, it's my peer, Shannon Snow.Shannon is someone that I look up to.She works extremely hard at everything she does, and always goes above and beyond what is expected of her.She is a caring person, with high morals and values.She is kind to everyone she comes in contactwith and makes me want to be a better person.
I recall working next to Shannon when she was having a tough day in the NICU.She had two busy patients, one of which was being discharged.When a fellow nurse began to walk her discharged patient out, the parent suddenly yelled, "wait, I forgot to say goodbye to Shannon."I watched the mom grab Shannon's hand and tell her how nice she was, and how thankful she was for the way she cared for her baby.Shannon accepted these compliments humbly and graciously.Working beside a nurse such as Shannon is an awesome gift that inspires us to rise to higher levels.I firmly believe that the people we spend time with, shape the path that we travel, therefore I am thankful to work beside someone like Shannon.Because of this, Shannon deserves the DAISY Award.
