I started my day with terrible kidney stones. As they progressively got worse, I decided it was time to head to the ER, as the pain was worse than the kidney stone I had had a year or so ago. When I arrived at the ER, I was greeted by so many kind people and taken immediately back to a room. This is when I met my nurse, Shannon! As my kidney stones and nausea worsened, even after several medications, Shannon advocated to the doctor for me, and was able to get me medications that helped the pain subside. After having multiple rounds of medications and testing done, I was finally able to get some rest. My stepdad told me that as I fell into a deep sleep, he noticed that Shannon looked concerned. He asked her if I was alright, as she was looking deeply at my breathing. Shannon then informed my dad that I was not breathing and got a pulse ox to check my oxygen levels. Unfortunately, they were not good in the 70s. Shannon reacted quickly and was able to bring me back to a stable condition. Through the entire evening and into the morning, Shannon was so patient and kind, through the worst pain I have ever experienced. I could have never gotten through that night/morning without her!

Thank you, Shannon, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
