Shannon is a great team player and a valuable nurse in our department. She serves as charge nurse and preceptor. She has the ability to connect with patients and meet their needs not only physically but also emotionally.
We had a patient who was challenged financially and is a regular patient. The patient's vehicle was in need of repair and Shannon's husband is a mechanic. She coordinated with other team members to get the patient some gift cards to get her car to the shop and her husband agreed to fix the patient's car.
Due to complications, the vehicle was not ready in a day. Shannon and her husband let the patient borrow their personal truck until it was fixed. This allowed the patient to continue treatments and made a big impact on the patient emotionally.
