Today, I came into the ER with my mom. She had been feeling weak and off balance. Not often do I take the time to fill out any form to express my experience when it comes to customer service, hospitality, or bedside manners. But I am truly compelled to express my gratitude to nurses like nurse Shannon Tomassi. She was very kind, professional and compassionate. To understand that human kindness with dignity and respect can go a long way. That encounter with her just for a moment relieved some of the anxiety and stress I had been experiencing. I am the only child of my parents. My father is battling stage 4 colon cancer, and my mother breast cancer. Worrying about my mom, I began to cry in the ER. Shannon extended some very, very much-needed encouraging words. It reminded me that just when you think that you are alone and your faith is on the borderline, you meet nurse Shannon. When you think in this present day that the world is a cold, ruthless, and hopeless place and humanity doesn’t exist, Shannon appears. Thank you, Shannon, for your kindness.
