Shannon Vorhies, RN

Shannon was the epitome of empathy on the hardest night of my life. As my dad passed away from pancreatic cancer, she showed incredible grace while explaining each step of what was happening. She was thoughtful, advocated for his care, and gave our family space — while still checking in often to make sure he was comfortable and not in pain. She shared wisdom from her experience that I will never forget and reassured us that we were doing everything we could at a time when all that was left to do was love him. She had been my dad’s nurse the week before, and it felt like a blessing that she was the one caring for him as he left this world. For her compassion, empathy, and intuition, I'd love to thank her by nominating her for the Daisy Award. She deserves it.
