I always feel calmer when I see her. She has such a kind and soothing demeanor. She has never made me feel judged, and she understood where I was coming from.
Shannon has been a total lifeline. I have had three cancers, and I transferred to Tufts after my second cancer, and I was incredibly traumatized by my prior care. Shannon has always been there and listened to me vent and freak out due to my severe PTSD. I always feel calmer when I see her. She has such a kind and soothing demeanor. She has never made me feel judged, and she understood where I was coming from. Whereas in prior experiences, I was made to feel like a psych patient, but she never made me feel like that. She understands the emotional components that come from being a childhood cancer patient and young adult. She is always smiling and gets back to me in a timely manner. I recently learned I had a rare disease that causes more cancer, and I had several biopsies this year. Shannon always kept me promptly informed of the results. She even came down to the infusion center to personally ease my nerves and tell me one of my tests was clear. I always feel comfortable with her, and I trust her one hundred percent. I have had a complicated medical history, and Shannon, by far, has outshined every NP I have ever seen. I have seen several as my cancer history dates back to age two. I feel safer knowing she is on my team. My family also really feels comfortable with her and has commented on how kind she is. Breast health would not be the same without Shannon. She deserves this award as she takes a strong interest in her patient's well-being, not just physical but psychological as well. She is everything a nurse and doctor should be: empathetic, kind, professional, and always calm. I am grateful she is part of my team. She is an asset to Tufts.
