The care our girl received from Sharalee was attentive and affectionate.
Our 4-month-old was admitted to the hospital due to RSV. We were in general Pediatric care until our daughter needed extensive respiratory assistance, so the Rapid Response Team arrived and transferred our baby to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where we got the pleasure of receiving Sharalee as our overnight nurse. The moment she walked into the room, her love for her job shone through her personality just by the way she spoke to us as well as our baby. Her attention to detail, the empathy towards everyone around her, and not only does she show her patient compassion, but the family of that patient is treated just as an equal.
During this stressful transition with just me and my baby to the PICU, I was visibly overwhelmed and she took a moment out of the chaos, to give me a hug and it wasn't just a hug, it was a hug that pieced me back together and in that moment I felt as if it was my own loved one who was comforting me and reassuring me that everything would be okay. She then looked at me with her infectious smile and said, "It's okay, Mom, she's in great hands," and that she was! The care our girl received from Sharalee was attentive and affectionate. She made sure not only our baby, but family was comfortable until she came back. Her precautions for the safety and health of our stay there, and overall knowledge in her field of work were excellent. Sharalee goes above and beyond her work duties to ensure everyone in her care is taken care of physically and emotionally! We will forever be grateful for her!
Note: This is Sharalee's 2nd DAISY Award!
