Sharen Milligan is a wonderful patient advocate, taking on patients' issues and concerns, and following through to resolution. She is often mentioned in discharge phone calls as someone who has made a difference to patients during their stay. One patient said, "Sharen went out of her way to make sure all my needs were met. She is a gem!"

Sharen is supportive to her co-workers, stepping in when she sees a need. A co-worker commented: "There are nurses who make you feel confident and safe when they are working alongside you. You know that when they are at work, that despite whatever may happen, they have your back. On one occasion, my patient began seizing one hour after returning from the PACU and a rapid response had to be called. Sharen was one of the first nurses at my side, assisting in the rapid response. She then stepped up and looked after my other three patients while I was occupied with him. She quickly, without hesitation, took on the burden of my patients while I was occupied and ensured that they were safe. Her selflessness and eagerness to help was invaluable."
