My sister K was recently a patient in your CCU. Our family would like to nominate Shari Willis for her skilled, compassionate, and individualized care of our daughter, sister, and aunt. Shari was unshakable as my sister's condition went from terrible to even worse during the first five days of what the doctor said could be a month-long hospital stay. Shari is a professional in her chosen occupation and yet she made us feel comfortable enough to ask her anything. Shari kept us informed and showed patience even when asked to repeat and remind us of K's procedures, medicines, and what her lab numbers meant for those of us who know nothing about the medical environment. But then she was able to adjust her explanations for my biology/science teacher brother who could talk using actual medical terms but she didn't make either group feel ignorant.
Watching Shari work with her supervisor and also with helping to train nursing students all in the same shift we noticed that she did everything equally well. She seemed tireless; my sister K required multiple nursing care visits every shift due to being on a ventilator for several days.
We are completely and totally in awe of all the nurses in 4E CCU; they are constantly on their feet and on the move. It seemed to us like hundreds of things needed to be completed for K in every 24 hour period. Shari always made us feel like there was no place she would rather be than caring for someone who needed her. Thank you.
