Last Friday I had the opportunity to visit OP surgery as a patient. I'm not a very good patient, I get scared, I get quiet, I seem angry because I'm afraid....a terrible, terrible patient!
I was ready to "run" at any moment because I didn't want to be in the position of being completely vulnerable and at the mercy of caretakers I didn't even know. Then I met Sharika. Even today (two days later) thinking back on it, I can hardly believe I was assigned to Sharika. She made me instantly comfortable. She is very skilled, very kind, very compassionate, and I felt safe. I went instantly from feeling vulnerable, to feeling safe with just her smile. That's powerful. She has something about her that is very extraordinary. I will never forget her.
