I was induced and I was beyond scared. I came in and went into the delivery room to rest for a little bit. I met my nurses, they were coming in and out of the room but one of them really stood out to me. Her name was Sharon. Sharon was beyond good to me. She offered me popsicles, jello and would ask if I needed anything every time she came into my room. When my contractions started getting painful and I was dilated enough to get the epidural, she made everybody go out of my room and it was just me and her and the anesthesiologist. I sat criss-cross on the bed and was still and calm. After 12 pushes I delivered a baby boy.
When my son came out he wasn't breathing well and was not crying. They knew something was wrong and they took him to NICU and said there was something wrong with his heart and that he would need to be flown to Egleston Children's Hospital and that he would need surgery. His two main arteries were switched and would need to be switched into the correct position. My fiancé went to Atlanta to be with our son while I stayed at Hamilton Medical Center to recover.
The next morning, Sharon came into my recovery room to check on me; it made my morning so much better because I was worried about my son and not being with him kept me up all night. Sharon promised she'd come to see me that morning and she did. She is the most kind-hearted nurse I have ever met. I believe Sharon should be nominated for this award because she deserves it. She made sure I was taken good care of.

Sharon was the best nurse while I was in labor. She went above and beyond to comfort me and made my experience so much better! Not all heroes wear capes - mine wears scrubs!
