It is difficult, over a three month period, to list a specific example of Sharon's outstanding care because day to day her attention to excellence was always there. Sharon not only managed her role as a nurse but what stood out to our family was her kindness and attention to small details. For example, assisting with feedings...transitioning from gavage to bottle feeding and helping me learn timing, technique and consistency. As a new mother of preemies, you may "hesitate" with the feedings (the amount and frequency), but Sharon had an effective way to keep you on track without being intrusive. Also, bathing the babies... being patient (with a touch of humor) in what can be an awkward moment as a new mother.

There are many tests being run consistently, and sometimes even knowing a test is being given on a particular day can cause anxiety. Sharon was always calm and comforting and she answered questions when I had them. I also knew I could ask her anything and if she didn't know the answer, she would find out.

And above all, Sharon was empathetic to my needs as a new mother. I remember vividly there were days I would cry and she was a shoulder I could lean on. As an example, it was extremely difficult to have one baby go home and the other several weeks later. I think only an exceptional nurse can provide comfort in this difficult situation.

There are so many nurses, doctors and staff that went above and beyond on a daily basis, however, for the examples we have shared (and many more),Sharon will always be appreciated and remembered fondly.
