She made him feel cared about.
My husband broke his hip. After surgery he was brought to the 4th floor at Banner Baywood Hospital. B has many health issues and some special needs at times. The first night with Sharon as his nurse was a whirlwind—in a very good way!! She made sure he was placed on the proper mattress for recovery. He still had not been put on a meal plan, so she fixed that. Also, his regular meds were not complete, so that was fixed. B has a lot of pain issues in his day-to-day life. Now, with more pain from surgery, Sharon made sure he got regular relief so the pain did not get out of control.

Sharon was also very helpful to me, answering questions and letting me know what I may need to ask doctors about for B’s future care. She is very kind and also very direct. That is nice because you know exactly what will be done and when. It was refreshing to never be in the dark about issues. No question was too small or too big.

We had Sharon three nights in a row; that was really nice. We did not have to explain anything to her. She got to know my husband’s needs and would be there to take care of them without me asking. I was always asked if I needed anything and if I was okay.

There are so many reasons that Sharon deserves the DAISY Award. I have only mentioned a few. She is very well-liked by her co-workers and loved by her patients. It was a pleasure to have her take care of my husband. She made him feel cared about. Sharon, thank you for all you do!

She has been extremely sweet, caring, and understanding. Sharon keeps me updated with anything going on with my stay and any questions I have. She does her best to explain the best way possible. Thank you, Sharon, for everything you did during my stay. Much love.
