I would like to take a moment to acknowledge a very special person. Sharon Downs, RN, leads her team night after night with confidence, compassion and with the most genuine concern for her patients and families. Sharon is a gifted Hospice nurse. She is an expert in managing pain, nausea, dyspnea (whatever the symptom) and doesn't rest until her patients are comfortable. She is equally concerned for their emotional well-being. It would not be an unusual night for Sharon to sit at the bedside holding the hand of a patient or embracing and consoling the spouse of a patient.
Sharon is extremely dedicated to the Hospice Home. During time of transition, she is the first one to volunteer to train new staff or to cover gaps in the schedule. Sharon is known for lending a helping hand and doesn't let her team down. She embodies the essence of what our program represents and it is an honor to be her colleague.
