Sharon's compassion is evident as she frequently goes above and beyond to ensure that Southway delivers high-quality patient experiences. She demonstrates fierce compassion when team members or patients are faced with adversity, role-modeling both compassion and advocacy.
Sharon effectively communicates with her team, ensuring that everyone is informed and empowered to fulfill their roles. When faced with difficult decisions, Sharon demonstrates sound judgment and decisiveness, always putting the needs of the clinic (staff and patients) first. Sharon’s motivation is demonstrated daily. She is the first to volunteer when things need to be accomplished, and she sticks around until the job is done. When there is a difficult situation in the clinic, Sharon promptly investigates and addresses issues, ensuring the safety of clinic staff and patients. She has an unwavering dedication to her profession, her staff, and our patients, which sets her apart as a true leader in nursing.

Collaboration is at the heart of Sharon's approach to nursing. She actively seeks input from colleagues and works seamlessly with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care. Her ability to foster strong relationships across departments within the clinic enhances patient outcomes and promotes a culture of teamwork.

One of Sharon's most remarkable qualities is her ability to listen, serve, guide, and heal. She listens attentively to her nursing staff and providers, advocating for their needs and preferences. As a servant leader, she leads by example, always willing to lend a helping hand and support her colleagues. Her guidance and mentorship have a profound impact on the development of nursing staff, nurturing the next generation of nursing leaders.

Sharon's compassion is evident as she frequently goes above and beyond to ensure that Southway delivers high-quality patient experiences. She demonstrates fierce compassion when team members or patients are faced with adversity, role-modeling both compassion and advocacy. Sharon’s clinical excellence guides the clinic in providing high-caliber, evidence-based care.

In summary, Sharon embodies the essence of nursing leadership. Her compassion, collaboration, clinical excellence, and leadership attributes make her a true asset to the Southway Clinic, the CentraCare system, and to our healthcare community. I wholeheartedly endorse her nomination for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award and am confident that she deserves this honor.

Some Quick Examples: Sharon works very hard to ensure safety when we have potentially violent patients in the clinic. She also works hard to protect staff when we receive threatening MyChart Messages.

Sharon has worked with me on numerous occasions our workflows to ensure communication flows smoothly and patients are able to access staff, while ensuring I am not receiving cold transfers. This ensures our patients' needs are met in a timely manner and has helped prevent my burnout.

Sharon advocated for a patient's dignity and safety, promoting staff safety, and preventing moral injury after a patient had difficulty ambulating down the stairs during a fire drill. This was an especially difficult situation to witness, but knowing someone was actively working hard to prevent this made all the difference in preventing moral injury as a part of the clinic.
