Sharon Greenhalgh is an exceptional nurse who flies under the radar most days. One day she came to work like any other day and was given an extremely emotionally difficult patient assignment. She took care of a patient who miscarried. The patient needed a uterine catheter and Pitocin drip- both of which have never been done before on 3 West. Sharon educated herself on all aspects of the patient's medical care because she knew that she should not be transferred down to the Birth Place. In addition to medically caring for this patient, Sharon was in the patient's room constantly. She quickly became the patient's trusted confidant and was able to emotionally guide the patient and husband throughout the day. She held strong and supportive during her whole shift despite walking past the baby in the bassinet at the bedside. She held strong and supportive while the family cried and mourned over the loss of their child. Being an oncology nurse, she has a caring and empathetic demeanor.
This was a new challenge for Sharon and she exceeded all expectations. She will forever be remembered by her patient and the family as the nurse who helped them at their worst time.
