Sharon stopped at a thrift store and was able to get her a dresser, side table, bookcase and two sets of sheets, and it was Senior Day, so she got an extra 15% off! Sharon said she was so excited because she knew that these small items were going to make such a big difference in the patient’s life.
Sharon Kern shared that she has a patient who she recently visited who needed many things. Upon leaving the patient’s home, Sharon spoke with the apartment manager to try and get her a living space more accessible since she ambulates with a wheelchair. He said he would put her on the wait list for a spot on the 3rd floor. Sharon also noticed that the lady had clothes scattered all over the place. Sharon stopped at a thrift store and was able to get her a dresser, side table, bookcase and two sets of sheets, and it was Senior Day, so she got an extra 15% off! Sharon said she was so excited because she knew that these small items were going to make such a big difference in the patient’s life. Sharon and her family will be delivering everything over the weekend. When talking about this act of kindness, Sharon simply said, “No need to draw attention, God sees all, and that’s all that matters!” Indeed, He does, Sharon!

On another patient visit, Sharon brought donuts as a treat. The next visit, Sharon was discussing the importance of eating a balanced diet and how it helps the body gain strength. During the conversation, Sharon asked the patient what she wanted to fix for dinner that day. Sharon went to the patient’s refrigerator to help suggest a meal that the patient could prepare. When she opened the refrigerator, she noticed the donuts she had brought on her last visit were there, an almost empty container of milk and nothing else. Sharon asked the patient where all of her food was, and the patient stated that was all she had and would get more after she got money on Friday. Sharon asked the lady what she was going to eat until Friday, and she said she was rationing the donuts so they would last until she could have someone go to the store. When Sharon left the patient’s home, she went to the store and bought the patient a variety of food that she could easily prepare for herself and delivered the groceries to her home. Sharon said that she did not do it for recognition or the have a spotlight on her, rather, she wanted to be sure the patient had food to eat and buying her groceries was simply the right thing to do. What a kind soul you are, Sharon.
