When Sharon started her shift, she came in and asked how I was doing. I mouthed "paper" and she understood me!!
I was put into the hospital due to COVID. After just one day on 2 west, I was taken up to the ICU because of my oxygen levels. I was then put on a vent for 6 days. During my last couple of days on the vent, I was awake. It was hard because I wanted to talk to my mom, but I could not. I tried to get some paper to write my mom a note, saying "I loved her", and to try to help her get through this hard time. I tried all day to mouth the words "paper" and "write", but no one seemed to understand because of the vent. When Sharon started her shift, she came in and asked how I was doing. I mouthed "paper" and she understood me!! She got the paper and pen and I was able to finally write my note to my mom. In perfect timing, my mom came to see me and Sharon handed her my notes. My mom broke down in tears. To this day, my mom holds on to those notes. Sharon would also text my mom updates during the night because she knew my mom couldn't sleep, because she was so worried. Sharon went out of her way to make sure WE were taken care of!! Thank you for taking such good care of me, and for all the care you gave my mom. Your care gave me the ability to get off the vent and to be able to walk out of PCU with my mom, after 14 days in the hospital fighting COVID. Thank you Sharon for EVERYTHING!!
