Sharon Pittard RN, MSN Associate Professor Good Samaritan College of Nursing & Health Science Cincinnati, Ohio Sharon Pittard leads by example and her actions are living lessons. Sharon goes out of her way to affirm the value of every person by taking the opportunity to recognize and encourage each individual. Sharon is an excellent role model, not only for our students but faculty as well with her professionalism, knowledge, and experience. During class, students are using creative thinking, problem solving and sharing ideas with other students and faculty. Sharon is creative with her teaching which is evidenced by the interactions and excitement of the nursing students during class. Sharon demonstrates the importance of maintaining the dignity and worth of every person provides care. I first met Sharon in 1987 just after she started Healthy Moms and Babes impacting the underserved community by bringing educational information to pregnant women and those with small children. As a novice nurse at that time, Sharon was one of my role models and here I am again under her inspirational tutelage. Therefore, it is with great respect and honor that I nominate Sharon for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty. Additional nomination for same nurse Sharon Pittard deserves the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faulty for many reasons. Sharon?s upbeat and positive personality creates a warm atmosphere for everyone at GSC. She is always polite and inviting to everyone; she never misses an opportunity to wish someone a happy birthday. She is an amazing educator. She continually evaluates her classroom and clinical teaching methods and works hard to create engaging and innovative teaching strategies that inspire critical thinking among her students. Sharon serves as a role model for students and maintains a professional relationship with them even after they have graduated from the College. Above all, Sharon demonstrates compassion and a willingness to help everyone. I have taught in same nursing course with Sharon for several years. During this time, I have witnessed Sharon going out of her way to assist her peers. She often puts her needs aside to help others and is always willing to pitch in to ?get the job done?. Sharon is truly and asset to GSC and to the nursing profession. Because of this, she deserves the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty!
