Sharon Sabo was my nurse following my surgery and the following evening. Sharon always presented herself very professionally while maintaining a friendly and reassuring manner. She went to great lengths, beyond her regular duties, to help me manage pain. The prescription NSAIDs and DMARDs had been stopped prior to the surgery. I was sleepless the first night. My level of pain, including the expected post-surgery discomfort and pain from other medical issues, was increasing as the 2nd day progressed. Sharon coordinated with the hospital physician and pharmacist to obtain medications to address the pain. She presented medication options along with reasoning for selection (fast acting, short duration versus slower acting, long duration).

Sharon always explained what she would be doing when handling the catheter, tubing, or bag, removing the awkwardness or any potential embarrassment. Her concern for avoiding any potential for infection was unsurpassed. I almost felt as if I might be Sharon’s only patient, although I obviously knew better. Sharon always made time to fulfill any request I made for water, another pillow, help with a late meal order, etc.

Simply – Sharon loves being a nurse, and it clearly shows in her attitude and the care she provides her patients.

Thank you, Sharon, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
