My son is my advocate and asks lots of pointed and pertinent questions and Sharon had no problem engaging and educating him.
I am nearing discharge for a diagnosis of sepsis from an obstructed kidney, and early in my hospitalization, my sepsis caused me tachycardia, which required ICU care. I was previously diagnosed with sepsis in 2018, which led to a stroke, and I remember how painful it was last time.

When I was admitted to the ICU, I had not slept, was in a lot of pain, and had a ton of anxiety due to my prior sepsis. While all my nurses in the ICU were great, Sharon was above and beyond, far and away, the best nurse I have had in my 2+ week stay in the hospital.

From the moment she introduced herself to me, she exuded warmth and compassion, which carried over into all her interactions with me and my family that day. She took the time to listen to the concerns I had, specifically with pain management and catheter removal. She clearly and patiently explained my options, especially the pain management.

Her intellect and articulation, coupled with her compassion and grace, put me at great ease. My family and I knew I was in great hands. Sharon was especially great at communicating with my family. My son is my advocate and asks lots of pointed and pertinent questions and Sharon had no problem engaging and educating him.

My partner also asks questions and makes jokes and Sharon had no problem fitting right in. In one shift, she did a fantastic job of endearing herself to all of us.

Last but not least, I’ve noticed that nurses often do not know how to treat a hemiplegic patient – I cannot move my left arm, but I still feel everything and sharp movements cause me pain. Sharon knew how to treat me right away – tender and with dignity. She is excellent at her job and was a blessing to us!
