Sharon is part of the Stepdown unit based clinical excellence project and has shined in every meaning of the words Dedication, Innovative, Extraordinary, Autonomous, and Selfless.

She has been an outstanding role model. The passion is transparent and can be seen through acts of selflessness, compassion, dedication, knowledge, care and autonomy that is consistently observed through Sharon's strong work ethic. She is many times recognized by her patients and is often described as an angel for the compassion, knowledge, and care she provides to her patients everyday she walks through the doors of the Stepdown Unit. She goes above and beyond when orienting a nurse to the floor by modeling every meaning of the word Nurse through her clinical skills, ability to recognize an opportunity for growth and change, while pursuing her ideas and/or concerns using effective communication techniques like SBAR both in email or in real time when an opportunity for learning is encountered.

I feel lucky to have a well-rounded nurse such as her working in such a clinical setting where there are so many opportunities to improve patient care knowing she will embrace change and be a champion for those around her. I often watch, listen and wonder when Sharon is at the bedside comforting a patient and their family during a hard time if they realize how lucky they are to have such a nurse beside them, advocating and caring for them and their loved ones.
