I had the opportunity today to witness inspiring nurse-patient interaction. While walking on 10 East I heard music and joyful voices coming from a patient's room. I peeked in and saw Sharonda with her patient singing "Stand by Me" as they laughed and danced. The patient is elderly and frail but was so clearly pleased. I later found out that this patient is being transferred to hospice.
Nursing can be busy, demanding job and often we are consumed by the demands of our day. To see a nurse take the time to give that extra little bit, felt like a gift.
