Shaunta went above and beyond her nursing duties to make me and my family feel comfortable during the labor and delivery of my son. From our very first introduction to our final farewell, she was fantastic. Her level of compassion is top-tier, and her communication skills are unmatched. She kept us informed and educated about every step of our delivery journey. She made sure both I and each member of my family were comfortable during the long labor process, and in my most vulnerable moments, she made me feel comfortable in a way I never thought possible. Her knowledge and experience were evident in every decision she made. She was so organized; every choice was well thought out, made with my best care in mind, and she had all the tips and tricks that truly elevated what could have otherwise been a very difficult process. She even brought items to the delivery that, according to the doctor, were better than what the hospital used, and he gave her credit for single-handedly improving my delivery process. She is a forward thinker—skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate, and an all-around fantastic nurse. She is a major reason why my labor and delivery journey was so wonderful, and I mean that wholeheartedly. Even my family noticed and commented on how amazing she was. Few women say they enjoyed the labor and delivery process, but because of Shaunta, I am an outlier. I genuinely look back on my time in the hospital with a full heart and positive memories because of her. If that isn’t a DAISY Nurse, I’m not sure who is.
