I nominate Shauntel Martinez, RN for the DAISY Award. Shauntel is an amazing, gifted nurse. I first want to thank her for entering the profession of Nursing as she is an inspiration to what we hope for in our care givers.
My mother was under Shauntel's care for three consecutive days during her 12 hour shifts. What I observed was a professional, competent, and compassionate nurse. She went about her work cheerfully and confidently and always took time out to explain to me exactly the care that was being delivered. During my mother's stay, she would at times become disoriented and start imagining people in her room. I simply told her that if she was seeing an angel, it was Shauntel.
