My mom was in the ICU for 4 weeks due to brain bleeding. This was a lot to my dad and I since my dad doesn’t speak English and lots of medical terms we both don’t understand.
Shawdi was our night nurse. The first day she took care of my mom, she worked tirelessly and diligently, and helped us understand issues and what medicine my mom was using. She was telling us that she noticed mom had low amount of urine and she scanned her and found a lot of urine not coming out. So she flushed the drain and also cleaned and replaced a new one. She made my mom feel so comfortable and clean.
The next day I was really looking forward to seeing Shawdi. When I saw her, she always smiled and felt so happy to come to work. She told me she loves her job and took care of every patient like they are her family. I was so touched. Her knowledge and skills also made me and my dad feel so confident to have her take care of my mom, especially overnight when we were not able to be with her. I requested to the charge nurse to make sure when Shawdi works I can have her as my mom's nurse.
There are a lot of things Shawdi did way above and beyond the normal duty. She always checked on my dad and me to make sure we were also taking good care of ourselves. She was able to learn a few Chinese words to talk to my dad. We are so grateful to meet Shawdi!
