My daughter is thirteen years old; she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma seven years ago. She started her treatment journey at King Hussein Cancer Center in 2014. I firmly believe that this center has many outstanding nurses in all units. Operating room nurses are an obvious example. Nurse Shawkat from the operating room is indeed one of those nurses.

My daughter had many surgeries during the last few weeks. The signs of stress and anxiety appeared on her with each surgery. Once my daughter was in the pre-holding area, Shawkat met her and helped with her psychological needs. He met my daughter, talked with her, exchanged some jokes and riddles, relieved her tension, and dealt with her wonderfully. During each surgery, when my daughter arrived at the pre-holding area and met Shawkat, the whole energy changed positively during a short period of time. When he accompanied my daughter to the operating room, he made her feel safe, tried to keep her as comfortable as possible, never failed to achieve the best for the patient.

One of the moments that will stay in my memory is when Shawakt visited my daughter in the Intensive Care Unit; he talked to her and gave her hope and good psychological support. Shawkat is very willing to answer all the questions I had in a very efficient manner. He is highly professional and knowledgeable and very friendly, energetic, and full of positivity. The extraordinary nursing care provided by Shawkat helped my daughter overcome the tension and create a kind atmosphere not only for my daughter but also for me.

Nurse Shawkat is a kind and professional nurse. He is a DAISY Nurse because he touched many things inside my daughter through the distinguished care provided to her. I strongly believe that Shawkat brings a set of clinical and communication skills and compassionate care that elevates patients' quality of care at this oncology center.
