My daughter had a recent stay of 7 nights on 2nd floor, due to complications of cancer (Stage 4 metastatic melanoma) and chemo; she was admitted with a high fever and symptoms of many questions. Shawn was on 2nd floor days – I saw so much compassion – respect for my daughter, and always left with her dignity. Not easy at 43 when you pee on the floor and can’t take care of it. Shawn was responsive to her needs, and her cares, always with a reassuring tone. She never felt like he was hurried. His communication with her and us was so appreciated as this journey of cancer has left us at the mercy of many nurses and doctors. He is a jewel, and we are left hoping if she needs to be hospitalized again he will be there. I’m sure he feels he is just doing his job – but it is so much more
