My husband has been hospitalized multiple times in the past few years and we have had a lot of exposure to nursing care. As a spouse of a patient, and with the continued stress of a chronically ill husband, when you arrive at the ICU, you want someone who is competent and who will take charge of the personal care of your loved one. That is exactly what we experienced. Shawnita was calm, compassionate, and caring. She took charge of my husband’s care, checking his vitals, and comfort level, and keeping me updated with his status, which allowed me to regroup and put me in a position to better support him. When PT was delayed, Shawnita took the initiative to get him seated and changed his sheets. She is dependable, competent, and has a calming presence. It is obvious Shawnita loves her job!!
