I am a Physician Assistant student who is in my clinical year. This year consists of 12-4-week rotations at clinics all across the Midwest. It can be very discouraging, trying to feel comfortable in a place that is all new to you in such a short time. By the end of day one, I knew this would be my place. Shay, Dr. G, and J made me feel nothing less than part of the family. They truly don’t know how much this affected me. I was struggling to get the motivation to go to the clinic each day with seemingly no end in sight. I was mentally exhausted from the last year and a half, and they brought a new sense of life for me. I am truly grateful for this team.

Going to the doctor is scary and uncomfortable for a lot of people. In the field Shay works in, even more so. The whole surgical process makes you take a step back out of your normal routine for several weeks at a time. It is a very high-stress time for a lot of our patients. Nevertheless, Shay would greet every patient with a smile. She knows little tidbits about our returning patients’ lives and makes sure to ask them how everything has been. We have never left a patient’s room not laughing. This is so important.

Healthcare can be such a taboo and scary thing for people and we never want people to feel like coming to the office is a bad thing. Shay fosters what means to be a great nurse and just a great human being all around. She radiates positivity and demonstrates exceptional patient care day in and day out. This is just a snippet of why I believe Shay Grebin is a DAISY Nurse.
