Shealyn was nominated by the majority of her classmates. Her peers witnessed her demonstrating the characteristics of a DAISY recipient consistently throughout the nursing program. Shealyn always demonstrates considerate care to patients during clinical and advocated for the patient beyond what was expected of students. She is not only a strong leader but someone who is insanely compassionate and caring. For instance, one time she saw a woman walking down the street without pants on while driving to clinical. She told her professor about it and asked if she could go look for this woman and bring her some pants. Shealyn called the police and told them about the incident and also went searching for this woman, but never found her. In the hospital, it's not uncommon to see Shealyn engaging with her patients at the bedside, making them and their families feel cared for, and making sure that she brings up any of their unmet needs to the appropriate staff. Besides being the epitome of a DAISY Nurse in Training, Shealyn also displays leadership qualities as she has been the President of CNSA for a year and has also volunteered to help lead the planning of many of the nursing events for graduation.
