I had to take my sister to the ER last night; she suffers from brain cancer and had been experiencing headaches and nausea the past 3 days. Due to past experience and 2 brain surgeries over the course of the past 14 months -- we were pretty much expecting the worst and I'm sure our nervousness was apparent. I'd like to recognize her nurse Sheila for being one of the best nurses we've encountered thus far. Besides RCRH, this journey has also taken us to Dana Farber in Boston and to Mayo several times so we have met a lot of doctors and nurses the past 14 months. Sheila's level of compassion and concern for my sister and my mom and me made us feel like we were the only people in the ER and if you look at the roster for that night, you will see that was not the case at all, it was a madhouse.
Thank you Sheila, for thoroughly explaining everything, always checking on us, talking to us like we were people and alleviating our anxiety. The level of care provided by Sheila was extraordinary.
