Sheila is also an excellent driver for results, leading our sepsis work and stroke door to TNK quality improvements.  In the last three months, ED is exceeding targets in those areas.
I’d like to nominate Sheila Neckel for this award.  She is an assistant nurse manager in the Vallejo emergency department.
She transitioned to our ANM quality nurse specialist in 2019 and is currently covering in a stretch assignment filling in for the open RN manager position in ED.

During COVID, she led a project with the front-line team to reorganize D pod as our respiratory unit.

Workflows were created and implemented for donning and doffing PPE and for organizing supplies and PPE outside of the room.

She led the redesign of D Pod as a respiratory unit, which included phone communication for providers with patients from outside the room.  This led to fewer exposures and conservation of PPE.

Sheila is also an excellent driver for results, leading our sepsis work and stroke door to TNK quality improvements.  In the last three months, ED is exceeding targets in those areas.

In her free time, Sheila has enrolled back in school to complete her BSN to develop her own nursing leadership skill set. She develops huddle talking points and enjoys rounding with staff to do huddle quizzes with her cart of treats and prizes to reward correct answers of those that keep up with the huddle messages of the day/week.

This is very popular with the entire ED staff.  She makes sure she does this rounding on every shift, so all staff have the possibility to pick a prize or treat.  She is an overachiever with innovative ideas and great energy.

She loves working with the team on disaster planning and trauma drills, too! Please consider Sheila for this award. We are lucky to have her in the Emergency Department!
