My wife and I are first-time parents, and we were scared for what was to come. We had to come in to get ready for the induction. It was a nerve-racking night due to our knowing what was to come the next day. The next morning at shift change, we were introduced to Sheila and Lauren. Sheila at first went straight into work mode, knowing my wife was in pain and was struggling. Every time she did any sort of treatment, she would explain what was happening and tell us why it needed to happen. 

She always had our best interests in mind and helped us relax. She could tell my wife was nervous and stressed so she started to stay in our room and tell us funny stories. We got to know her more than just our nurse; she became a close friend. When my wife was getting her epidural, Sheila was teasing me, which I really enjoyed. I love to build rapport through jokes and laughing together. I feel Sheila was the same way. Throughout the day, Sheila felt more like a Mom to us than a nurse. She helped my wife feel comfortable during the whole labor and delivery process, and she teased me to make sure I didn't pass out!

Sheila even stayed past her shift that night because my wife was so ready to go. The next day, Sheila was our nurse again, and she was attentive to our needs as much as she could. It was a little chaotic of a day for them, but she made sure we were still taken care of. She should be what every nurse aspires to be. I feel confident that she will make the best nurse and continue to touch the lives of many. My wife and I are blessed that she is here as our nurse, and this experience will be extra special because of Sheila!
