Sheilah is an incredibly valuable part of our team in the Cardiac Procedures Prep/Recovery Unit. She primarily works as a day shift charge nurse in our dynamic department.
Sheilah consistently displays a thoughtful and dedicated approach to nursing. She emphasizes the importance of patient experience as a factor that should drive all decisions and practices on our unit. She has been lauded for her calm and caring demeanor, which is just what we need on a unit that provides multiple forms of peri-procedural care in a very fast-paced fashion. In this way, Sheilah does an excellent job of leading by example. Her stylistic approach to bedside nursing, as well as charge nursing, is something to be emulated.
Sheilah's wealth of cardiac nursing experience is always on display. She offers great insight into our pre and post procedure cardiac patients, having worked for years in our cardiac cath. lab, and 5SE. She is patient, kind, and respectful in all interactions be they light-hearted or challenging. She is a model for professional consistency and civility that is beyond admirable.
Our department and the UWMC is fortunate to have a nurse like Sheilah.
