My daughter had surgery that was more invasive than originally planned. She has PTSD and high anxiety and wanted me to stay with her. I am so glad I did so I could watch the staff in action. Shelby was a wonder. She got everything set up, pain meds, drips, made sure my daughter was warm, etc. She had several patients but still checked on her almost every 30 minutes. She and the ladies got me a recliner, so I could be more comfortable. Shelby was darting in like a hummingbird, clucking at my daughter like a mother hen, making her get up and move. She made us feel like we had a private nurse, not only caring for my daughter but making sure I was okay also. Any future surgeries will be compared to this one and more are coming. This will be the hospital I use also when necessary, so I'm glad I am finally a VA patient too.
