I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and share a special tribute to an exceptional nurse who has made such a HUGE impact on my life. Although I missed Nurses Week, I believe it’s never too late. Since December 2017 I have had the privilege of having an Extraordinary Nurse by my side who has not only provided medical care but has also become a dear friend. Words cannot express how much her presence and support have meant to me throughout the years. From the very beginning, when my heart condition led to sepsis, seizures, and eventually a terminal cancer diagnosis, my amazing nurse has been by my side, with a mountain of support and compassion (even though I’m a hard patient, sorry) during the toughest moments of my life. Beyond medical, she has taken the time to truly understand me and who I am as a human. Her willingness to listen, provide guidance, and offer a shoulder to lean on has been an incredible source of strength for me. During Nurses Week, we often express gratitude for the nursing profession as a whole, but I believe it’s equally important to recognize and honor the exceptional individuals who make a profound difference in our lives. My home health nurse, Shelby Bair, is a remarkable nurse that has exemplified the true essence of nursing and has left a mark on my heart and in my life. To my incredible nurse and friend, thank you for your dedication, for the countless hours of care, and for being the compassionate soul that you are. I am forever grateful for you and the positive impact you continue to make every single day.
