Shelby always goes above and beyond to make her patients feel at home. She went above and beyond for one patient who ended up staying in the hospital for over 3 months. The patient's family was not from around here, so she spent a lot of time alone in the unit. Shelby would run to the gift shop or Subway to get her some healthy alternatives to cafeteria food. That continued even when the patient was moved to the floor. Also, she organized a birthday party in the unit when the patient turned 40, complete with hats, cupcakes, huge signs, and a pedicure! In addition, she would call on her nights off to check on the patient. She did a lot for this patient's mental status. She made her feel loved and not forgotten, and she encouraged her to stay positive in spite of terrible circumstances.
