During the summer of 2016 in the early evening, staff was called for a code blue. There we found a 2-year-old child with CPR started by a doctor. As is usual in cases involving children, shock does not take long to set in. As the staff quickly set up for the resuscitation, Shelby began to direct us on what to do and what was needed. He was cool-headed in a moment of panic. With Shelby's help, we kept on point with the goal of restarting this young child's heart. As I brought back the mother and father to see the efforts of the ED staff it was Shelby's voice that affirmed to them that we were working mightily to save their son's life. As the x-ray personnel relayed to me, "the whole team was working as one" and I'd have to say Shelby was a big part of that. Shelby, however, could not have done it on his own, his team was right there working hard beside him. It is difficult to speak about one member of the team without mentioning the other excellent people who worked diligently on this child. It was through their hard work that we got a heartbeat back even if for a little while.
