Shelby has really been a bright light to my family when we needed it the most.
Shelby has been extraordinary with her treatment and rapport. My dad was in her care for two days and she supported and encourage him before his very risky surgery. She helped rally the whole family together so we could support the decision and my father while he was extremely nervous.
On the day of the surgery, Shelby was not working, but came in and visited my dad before he was due in the operating room. It meant so much to him, he was in much better spirits. Before the surgery, she tracked down a futon for my mom, so when she stayed the night by my father's side she had an actual place to lie down and not just a chair.
When my dad moved from the cardiac ICU to the cardiac stepdown unit, Shelby personally moved the futon chair to another unit for my mom. My mom was so happy. She also gave all six of my family members support bracelets since my dad was limited to 2 visitors at a time. This helped us all feel close to my father when we couldn't be physically.
After the surgery, Shelby helped support his recovery by checking in and making sure my dad felt supported, important, and as comfortable as possible. The whole family owes Shelby a debt of gratitude. She has really been a bright light to my family when we needed it the most. We had planned to spend Memorial Day weekend grilling for the first time as a family since 2019, but had instead spent the week before with dad as he crafted a will and said goodbyes "just in case." While it all turned out well, having a nurse like Shelby who cared about my dad's physical, mental and emotional health made us feel like no matter what happened we would be okay, and that my dad was in the best hands he could possibly be in.
