Shelby ensured that my husband was comfortable and was treated like a human while sitting in the hospital. She was there every morning on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, talking to him to see how he was feeling, asking follow-up questions, and asking if there was anything she could get him. Shelby was also on the lookout for myself (the wife) when I came to the hospital every day. Shelby learned, remembered, and called me by my first name every time she saw me, and she didn't treat me like a stranger. Conversations went on with ease and comfort, and when we all found common interests, we delved deeper into the conversation rather than just glossing over it and not saying anything. Shelby is an amazing asset to St. Luke's South Shore, and seeing her in action with patients and staff was an amazing experience. No one enjoys staying in the hospital, especially when it's not planned, but she made the days for both me and my husband 100% better. I honestly do not think that my husband would have gone through it as smoothly as he did if it wasn't for Shelby.
