I received a patient from Shelby, an ED Nurse. She informed me of the patient's diagnosis and treatment given in the ED. This particular patient was admitted with alcoholism and was young. I could tell from the way Shelby gave me the report and the time she spent with the patient and with the patient's grandma that she really cared about them and their condition.
Later the next day when speaking with the patient's grandma on the phone, she described Shelby as truly caring and as a wonderful nurse. She spent time with the patient and gave them hope that they could stop drinking.
