Shelby truly shows that she loves what she does and puts her heart and soul into it each and every day.
Shelby was nothing short of a hero. My brother and I watched her in action save our dad after he suffered cardiac arrest. I've never in my life witnessed someone move so quickly, show so much compassion, and love their job as much as Shelby does. While our dad was in the hospital, Shelby constantly shared updates, news, and test results. She answered our very tough questions in terms we could understand yet didn't make us feel like we were uneducated for not knowing or understanding. She took time each and every day to update me and my family with anything that was going on. She was respectful to when my dad showed impatience as he recovered and always checked in on him and our family.
No other nurse put her mind at ease as much as Shelby did. She showed nothing but hospitable respect to both my dad and my family while my dad was hospitalized. She told it all to us straight, didn't make promises, yet kept showing her heart as she looked out for the best interests of my dad. She consistently collaborated with the entire team of nurses and doctors on staff reporting to everyone what had gone on in the morning or on her shift, asked questions, and was a genuine advocate for our dad. Shelby not only helped to save my dad's life but she was always good about checking in on him sharing updates and explaining things to my family and me. She showed patience with my dad who was recovering from cardiac arrest pacemaker surgery and going through dialysis. Never once did she rush out of the room when he was telling her a story that she may have heard once or twice before. She always shows patience with my dad and with our family as we ask questions to try to understand what he is going through.
