Shelby meets the criteria for DAISY Award on a daily basis. She has brought so much love to our unit, but most importantly, the patients. She is always kind and compassionate to her patients and staff. She has kept a positive attitude even through COVID. I have seen her go above and beyond during COVID. She would get report on her patients and assess them and go straight to the phone to call the families to update them. She made sure the families knew that their dying loved one was getting the best care while they could not be by their sides.
Shelby got COVID and was out for 2 weeks sick and having anxiety but returned to work with the same positive attitude. She is always giving the staff Birthday cards and bringing food. She keeps everything running smoothly. She organized the whole unit and is always cleaning to keep the nurses safe. Everyone who meets her or who has contact with her just loves her. I am so happy to call Shelby my friend and peer. She always demonstrates compassion to both her patients and her families. She is always professional in every situation, and her positive attitude always generates positivity in others around her. She makes you want to be a better person!
