I am writing to thank your nurses for all of the wonderful care they gave my family during our time in your unit. My mother was a patient in ICU-South this past February. I would like to really praise one nurse in particular on her amazing care to my mother, and our entire family. Shelby Mashburn was with us for 3 days in a row, and she was the perfect nurse. Every day we had her, my family and I would sit around praying she would be back the next day!

Shelby dealt with my family a few months prior when my father was in ICU-South and in the room next to my mother. My father was only there for a few hours before he passed away. Shelby helped my family and me with the loss and offered compassion.

With my mother, Shelby took so much time out of her day to make sure she was comfortable and all of her needs were met. She was having problems with a GI bleed, which was very embarrassing for my mother, but Shelby made her feel as comfortable as possible. When it came time to choose Hospice for my mother, Shelby helped more than we could have ever imagined. My family and I were hesitant and nervous to make such big decisions, but she was always there to answer our countless questions while offering sincere sympathy at the same time.

In both cases of my mother and father, we have had the pleasure of working with Shelby. Although things didn't turn out perfect for my parents, I think it is important to recognize someone when they go above and beyond with their care. Thank you so much for everything your staff did for my parents and family. I will be telling all of my friends and family that Baptist Health ICU-South is a wonderful facility!
